The Great Wall of China provides extensive opportunities for exciting adventures along its routes. If you have the outdoors spirit then you can undertake trekking, hiking, picnicking & camping adventures along remote stretches of China's Great Wall.
The largest stairway in the world scales and dips, to nearly close back on itself at times when it gets to the high ground. Running over the horizon it courses through ranges of sharp limestone peaks. |

Hiking the Great Wall is a must-do adventure activity for travelers to Beijing. The more challenging stretches lie within easy day-trips from Beijing. One of the least renovated is the less crowded segment at Simatai offering views of the original structure.
A 19 km section is particularly steep with slopes built at 70-degree incline. Authentic sections of the Wall are visible at places showing the crumbling condition.
Walk here at leisure, trek or enjoy a picnic amid the breathtaking scenery. For longer duration treks you can lodge in camping facilities at nearby hotels. The Great Wall adventure makes you experience the interiors of one of the most enigmatic parts of the world.
